ISPO 2012. GOT A WRIST BAND?

hardcore as we are we threw ourselves on plastic bags down the theresienwiese in munich. we went to munich for the ispo and it was so ... we let this shit people tell you. and retrospectively one question still remains open: what have all these half naked girls been doing there?

the nixon art mosh was one of our favourite side events of this years' ispo. besides live painting performances and works of cheryl dunn or matt small we discovered our alltime lovely crista leonard.

monday was the day of the heart and familiar faces. together with many girls who we got to know in saas fee last year we attended the women in boardsports lunch. it was a calm anchor amidst the crazy ispo circus. oh, and we met the mama of the cooler bear. isn't he adorable?

tanja would be a mix of stockholm and paris. the swedishness (tanja is half swedish half austrian), design- and fashionorientation of stockholm. the contrasts: pure, bright light of swedish summers and dark coldness of swedish winters. the mix of water and land, the different islands with various characteristics combined with the elegance and feminity of paris.

and which city would be carina?

she would be a mix of zell am see and new york. the beauty, nature, quietness, bluebird-sky and mountains of zell am see mixed with the speed, vibrant energy, culture, contrasts, art, entrepreneurial spirit and non-sleeping / everything is possible attitude of new york.

talking to virginie faivre

this is our first interview featuring a free skier – and what a free skier! let's say hi to virginie faivre from switzerland. we are more than happy to have used the o'neill evolution big air event as opportunity to talk to the multiple halfpipe world champion.

virginie, do you remember the moment when you decided to get a professional free skier?
I took a year off from school and spent a winter season in whistler, canada to learn english and enjoy the powder. I felt in love with freeskiing. I was riding off piste on the big powder days and started to hit the snowpark / halfpipe the rest of the time. That winter was a dream, I had so much fun and became addicted to that adrenaline rush from freeskiing. as soon as I got back home in europe, I knew that was all I wanted to do and made everything possible to be able to live out of my passion.

how would you describe your style?

that's a tough question. it's already hard to describe someone else's style, so mine? I would just say that I try to be as smooth as possible in the air. the style is the most important aspect for me in skiing! I am not a gymnast or a big spinner, so I just try to make everything look good.

are there many contests for girls in free skiing?

not too many, compared to snowboarding! if you are invited to all the big events like x games (only 8-10 spots for the freeski girls), dew tour or doing the world cups, there are six events only.

it's even harder to qualify for those as there are almost none open events. in europe, switzerland and france there is a freestyle tour (swiss freeski tour & the sfr tour) which is what was needed for the younger generation. unfortunately, those events are only on a national level and don't gain enough respect in the international scene yet. but they have a really good level as the youngs are pushing hard behind. in switzerland, there is also a great contest called the "ladies first challenge" for girls only.

and what about videos? do you have any favorite video at the moment you would like to recommend to our readers?

filming is the thing I have been trying to do for the last few years, but it's definitely one of the hardest challenges I have been going through. my dream has always been to film a good video part in the backcountry. the problem is that if you want to have a real video segment, you need to dedicate all your time for that. as I still compete, the winters are too short and I never find enough time to film. but I am still working on it, hope it will work one day!
I would recommend you to check out the new video edit of kelly sildaru, just fresh from two days ago.

how do you experience the development in free skiing?
I have seen a lot of changes since I started freeskiing. one big step has been the progression of women skiing, with a big increasement in the number of girls doing our sport. it is so good to see the girls invade the snowparks and the contests now. I know it will just keep being better and better, as our sport became olympic and I am so excited about it!

now that we are going to the olympics, we are starting to see the national structures grow with a massive professionalism from all the athletes. I have been skiing with my friends and training by myself for the last years, and since this year, I am now part of the swiss freeski team and it is a big change. I am just really looking forward to 2014 because it's a new challenge and the olympics have always been a dream. I am just glad to be part of the history of our sport.

we really like your website. please tell us a bit about your artistic streak.

thank you, I am glad that you like it! I learned how to do websites a few years ago ... I just love to do that kind of things, especially to play on photoshop and dreamweaver. I just started now to study graphic design in a school by correspondance, I am really excited about it! I also love photography.

on your website we saw the link to gorilla.ch. in which way are you involved in this project?

that's a project that really matters to me! the kids and teenagers' lifestyle changed a lot in the past few years with the TV, video games, cell phones, and especially internet and their social medias. they spend too much time on them and it's not healthy. the schtifti fondation was concerned and that's why they developed the gorilla project. they aim is to push young people to move by the means of extreme sports. they visit the kids in the schools, so they can discover those different fun sports and realise that they are accessibles to anyone. gorilla is a website where you can learn by playing how to eat healthy and win lots of prices as well. my ski sponsor völkl got involved in that project last year, since then, we have been working together with gorilla.ch. I visited some kids in their school and also went skiing with some girls for a "meet & greet" prize. this winter we are filming to develop a freeski application for next year.

that sounds great. you are very active besides your free ski career. you also hosted the nine queens event.
I am really proud to be hosting such a unique event which has been part of the progression of women freeskiing. we needed an event designed only for girls with the same attention that men get. nico zacek brought us the best concept we could have been dreaming off: a progressive feature, with the best international athletes, during a week with no pressure. the objective was to give the opportunity and time to the ladies to finally have an event where they could push their limits further and also shoot to show the world the great style and level that women freesking has finally reached. I am also really happy and thankful that my main sponsor O'Neill is now fully involved with the nine queens!
The 2nd edition will be held in austria, in fiss, from march 19th to 24th 2012. so keep those dates in mind and book your agenda to come watch the ladies go big! if you are a skier girl, there is still a chance to be part of the event if you send a video edit of yourself before the end of february. check out the "wanna be a queen?" trailer here for more infos.

talking to celia miller

due to heavy snowfall the semifinals of the girls were put off one day. in this way celia miller found enough time to chat with us laid-back about her idols, her own shop and her plans for this season before she went for the next treerun.

hi celia, where did you grew up?

I kind of grew up all over the east coast. I was born in maryland and i did high school in connecticut. five years ago I moved to breckenridge, colorado.

where there any girls you looked up to?

I love mary-france roy and annie boulanger. they are the backcountry girls that always inspired me.

we suppose you are more into back country riding than to park riding.

in the past I have been doing a lot of filming and shooting. this year I'm gonna do a lot more contests. and this is kind of to see wheter I wanna make an attempt to the olympics. I would really like to do it and take this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

did you had any dangerous situations in the backcountry?

nothing too dangerous. we always start with the crew and we are very careful. we bring our gear and try to test things before as much as we can. I've been lucky I have not been in the avalanches yet. let's knock on wood, hopefully it doesn't happen.

you are in the o'neill team for more than a year now. how is it?

I love it. I'm so glad to be part of o'neill. it's such kind of a family feel. we travel around a lot and they opened a lot of opportunities for me. I've seen a lot of places and I can do a lot of cool things through them.

you also represent the new phillips / o'neill headphones. what kind of music do you like to listen to when you snowboard?
let's see, I love to listen to edward sharpe and the magnetic zeros. they are awesome. but i also have a mix of r'n'b and rap and i got some rock'n'roll. i just like music in general.

we enjoyed watching your part in peep show's "let's make better mistakes tomorrow". please tell us a bit more about that video.
I love the girls of peep show. I've been filming with them the past couple of years. I shared a part with my friend silvia and got some backcountry shots in it. I think they did a real good job. it's a good portrait of women snowboarding. the stuff that's going on in the movie is progressive and exciting to watch.

would you say there are any differences between european and american snowboarding?
I have not seen any major differences. we all travel together. it feels like we are all a lot of in the same places. we are not as separated as people think.

is it important for you to have girls around you when you snowboard or do you enjoy it more to hang out with your boys?

I like the combination. I think definitely riding with men, especially in the back country, was so important for me. I've learnt everything from then. but then there is nothing like riding with girls since they are more equal. i go in the back country with guys and they wanna build huge jumps which are a little intimidating but it really pushes me. when i can go out with a girl we can build something that we feel comfortable with and we can try our tricks on. I would say both are good.

we heard you run your own store. how came that?

yes, I opened my own business last year in june. I just have really small boutique brands. it's completely seperated from snowboarding. I don't carry any snowboard or skateboard companies. it's my life outside of snowboarding. snowboarding doesn't last forever. I wanted to start something that I can carry on with me regardless of what I'm doing with my snowboard career. I am the store owner and I have five or six people working for me which allows me to travel and not be there. that's amazing.

O'NEILL EVOLUTION 2012 PT. I

we just love winter. we love to stamp through knee-deep snow and watch snow flakes dancing wild in the wind. we enjoy to make snowball fights and drink glühwein with our friends. but what we dearly love and can't be without is snowboarding.

davos turned out as the fulfilled winter dream last week. it snowed like crazy four days long. amidst the thick snow flurry we watched the best boys and girls in freestyle snowboarding at the first major event on the 2012 ttr world snowboard tour.

tons of snow proved to get one man's meat and another man's poison at o'neill evolution 2012. as snowboard addicted crowds were stoked by masses of powder at the jakobshorn the shapers got all hands full to prepare the big air for the finals in time.

in the end the semifinals of the girls were postponed one day. therefore they were blessed with the best riding conditions all week and impressed with striking air time.

there´s something captivating about you and your label. how did you become such a bright and positive person?

I grew up in barcelona in a big, big family surrounded by happiness and considering love, respect and effort as core values. I'm so lucky my family loves nature, sports and of course the snow. I think the combination of my family's strict education and my wild soul made me who I am today. being happy every instant is my life's goal.

when did you got in touch with the snowboard scene for the first time? maybe not an easy thing for a spanish girl?

it was maybe 12 years ago when I started spending my winters in andorra. I can proudly say I've been part of the snowboard evolution in spain. nowadays it's really popular and snowboarding is understood as a lifestyle and passion but when I started to discover the snowboard scene it wasn't that easy and even more so for a spanish girl.

was your label planned or did it just happened like many good things do?

EMA just happened. I never planned something like this. I started creating my own designs and people started asking about it. meeting riders like marc swoboda or dominik wagner, who were really stoked about my neckwarmers and wanted to wear it also helped to start spreading the word around. finally a really bad injury in my arm made me change my life plans and gave me time to think and decide to start it for real. I guess that's what I love about EMA, every day and every step is a surprise :)

please tell us a bit more about the production process.

starting a new collection means improving the last one. I like to ask my riders and customers how they feel wearing the products and then I start thinking about the best way to improve it, but it's all about style, function, design and comfort. choosing styles and designs is amazing. I really love it. I just try to get inspiration everywhere (street, art, nature, fashion, people …) and try to find original and unique designs. I love textures and colors, that's why I say you can feel the difference wearing, touching or looking at EMA. EMA is a really young company. I take care of everything but I get some help for the production. everything is handmade in barcelona.

when we think about ema we see many bright shining faces. how do you choose your family members? 

all the riders in EMA's family must have this special spark inside. it's just happy people in love with snowboarding. I think above all I need stylish riders spreading good vibes and smiles around the world.

it seems you travel a lot. what´s the most beautiful thing about it for you?

I love traveling because it makes me feel free. I love getting lost finding my way around, discover places and cultures and meeting amazing people on the road. but I really hate saying bye when I have to leave, I'm so bad with that …

what do you believe in?

I believe in destiny.

WOMEN IN BOARDSPORTS 2011

there we went. three girls, seven boards and 1080 km to go. we didn´t exactly know what to expect but we knew it will be remarkable. so it was. surrounded by an impressive mountain scenery the third women in boardsports retreat in saas-fee brought heaps of interesting and inspireing women together. we met to listen, talk and to get to know different approaches to the boardsports scene from a female view.

for us one of the deepest going talks was held by cori schumacher. cori has won as good as all titles you can win in surfing. she´s a surfer who achieved this success without having any sponsor, confidently. cori drew our attention to the fact that female athletes in boardsports are rather sold over their visual nature than over their ability and creativity.

sophie friedl held another moving talk. she introduced skateistan and provided insight to the world´s first co-educational skateboarding school. besides talking about her work as teacher in kabul she gave us an understanding of the actual situation in afghanistan. if you´d like to get to know more about sophie and skateistan click here.

another talk we would like to highlight is the one held by christine waeber. her company bluesign takes a stand for sustainable ways in the production of clothes and offers different operating processes to reach this demand.

LADIES LONGBOARD WORKSHOP WITH FEE & SOPHIE

we know it´s been a long time frau fee (1st picture) and miss sophie (2nd one) did their longboard workshop in vienna. but anybody who´s a lover of analog photography needs to be patient. it was just overwhelming how many girls came by. some of them even travelled from different cities to enjoy a bubbling session at the donauinsel.

accordingly to their level the bunch of girls was separated into two groups. while the advanced girls learned how to slide the girls in the beginners group trained smooth foot brakes and early grabs. yes, early grabs. sophie, thank you for that!

after the workshop we rolled to the prater to turn our spins in about 100 m height.

julia pott tells beautiful stories about love and friendship. for that purpose she employs awkward animated characters which act out her inner confusions. we picked out the main themes of julia´s work and got enchanted by her words about these.

UNIVERSE
it's the sci-fi nature of it all that gets me. it's also very sparkly, and being prone to enjoy sparkly things, the universe has great appeal to me. growing up, "eerie indiana", "are you afraid of the dark" and "the x files" were the big three on my television set.

i wrote "the truth is out there" on every ring binder I could get my hands on and I revelled in the mystery of it all. now when I come back to the universe in my work I do it with a certain nostalgia. by engaging with the universe I can tap into my feelings about space and science fiction and the spooky that I had as a child. I take comfort in feeling so small in such a big space.

I think people go either way on it, sometimes wondering what the point is if you're so insignificant. personally I think it's a good thing. In the grand scheme of things you are most likely slipping under the radar, and with this in mind all that becomes important is making the most of the time you have.

LOVE

love is my bread and butter. it is almost exclusively my default subject matter for my work, whether it be romantic or otherwise. in my own love life I am a bit confused, which might account for all the soul searching in my work. it helps me figure out what is going on in my mixed up brain. in my drawings, animals become the clumsy manifestations of ourselves, fumbling their way through frustrating situations.

OBSESSIONS
I find obsession in various places. I do not have a lot of vices – not a big drinker, never smoked etc. and only recently got into coffeine. but I do have a tendency to lock into something and keep coming back to it until I have it out of my system. I do it in every aspect of my life – there will be a month when i eat the same three meals every day because i cannot get enough, and my clothes become like uniforms – wearing a rotation of the same three outfits for a few months until I never want to see them again.

my obsessions in my every day life and my work life are more often than not very interlinked. my characters will dress in the clothes that are currently in rotation in my closet, their interests will be my own obsessions. but I suppose that is probably true of most artists. at the moment I am really into the 90s in all aspects – film, fashion, culture. I have been getting back in touch with my childhood for my new film so I think that has resulted in an immersion in the 90s again. I find myself mainly wearing dungarees, shark tooth necklaces and no fear t-shirts and watching the goonies and stand by me on repeat.

in my work, my obsessions usually end like a bad break up, or two friends that have grown apart. you spend so much time mulling over the same idea again and again and taking it as far as it can go that when a project is finished you never want to see that subject again. you are no longer friends. there are a few occasions when I don't feel the previous project has gotten a subject out of my system and it lingers in the back of my brain every time I start something new.

personally I think obsession is a great thing. it is when I go through phases of being unexcited by things that my work suffers. I force something upon it that isn't there and it shows. when I am obsessed my work thrives because I cannot stop working as I am trying to get the obsession out of my system.

UNFULFILLED DREAMS

I have a tendency, as I'm sure many people do, to linger on the "what if's" in life rather than focusing on all the things you did do. I'll let them absorb me and get consumed in wondering what my life would be like if I'd done that instead – of course in my head this often results in an alternative reality where I am a famous film director living in some fancy beach house and I curse myself for making all those big mistakes.

when I first graduated from kingston in 2007 I was very very shy and would turn down interviews or jobs if it meant having to meet people or talk excessively on the phone. I was happy to just continue working on my own projects in the quiet of my own room with a big cup of tea. this period of time, therefore, has quite a few 'alternative reality' scenarios that I linger on. it taught me a lot however and I feel we learn from our mistakes much more than our achievements sometimes. I still have that shy kid inside me but I push through it because I know it's better to be brave and get out there, even if it means feeling a little uncomfortable, than miss out on a great opportunity.

my mom is a great exponent of the "everything happens for a reason" motto. even if it isn't true it's a great comfort. you can go through and justify every action, everything that went wrong and think "if that hadn't happened, i'd have never met this person or had this experience". I try to stay positive for the most part. it can become a bit difficult in an industry where your work is so much a part of who you are that when people don't like it it can send you into a bit of a downward spiral. if you get too many criticisms in a row you can find yourself mumbling in your head that maybe you should give it all up and become a florist. when this happens my dad has an even more comforting phrase that he says in a cold manner that makes it all the more effective, 'come on julia, it's just life'.

CHILDHOOD
I would say my childhood was pretty normal, I grew up in quite a small family with just one older sister, alice. I had a few quiet eccentricities like most kids do, one of which being that I used to pull out my hair and eat it – i could not get enough.

my mom is from new york and my dad is from london so we had the benefit of spending the year in london with my dad's family and then the whole summer going to the beach and havingbarbecue's with my mom's family.
I grew up in the countryside, in the same house we live in now. if we ever sold that house I think i'd be devastated. It's down a dirt track in the outskirts of london and I instantly feel my whole body relax when I go up to visit my folks there. there's something so homely about it, and according to friends who have come to visit me, it smells like root beer.

my first career aspiration as a child was to be a balloon. it seemed like a very feasible choice but as I got older I started to think about the ins and outs of becoming a balloon and I lost the ambition. after that I went straight on to wanting to be an animator and never really explored anything else. I would tell people I was going to work for Disney, although i'm not sure if I really knew what it meant at that time.

I was a nightmare child, right into my teenage years I was a brat, and a clumsy noisy one at that. my mom would call me 'a bull in a china shop' as I had a tendency to stomp through various rooms of the house demolishing things in my path. I was also apparently a biter. I don't bite much now, i'm far more well behaved. when I wasn't smashing things up I was big into drawing as a kid. my mom would get
my sister and I to draw our bad dreams as a way of getting them out of our system. we also wrote a children's book together every evening before bed about a scuba diving detective.

where are you at the moment and what are you up these days?

right now I am at home. I have been traveling around the world here and there, making music and really getting to know myself. since my injury, I have found such a new way of life. I am becoming more and more immersed in the power of positive energy. there is such a flow to the world that most people have yet to awaken to. since I have acknowledged this energy of the world, this essence of being that truly connects us all, I have been opened up to an entirely different way of life.

you travel a lot and many girls would say you live a dream. do you feel the same?
I feel like I live a life that even I couldn't have dreamt. it is such a blessing, and every moment I am grateful for this path. it's amazing to be able to meet people all over the world. I have met so many people that I'll be friends with for the rest of my life.

you must have been a real good person in your previous life. you are endued with music, you surf like a goddess and you are a natural beauty. do you believe in karma?

thank you! I do not just believe in karma, I live it. every positive you put in comes positive back, every negative comes back negative. I work incredibly hard for everything I do, and I put my soul in to it. that's why things fall together for me, because I have the right intentions and I have a vision. I know I have a divine path, because I have realized how valuable life really is. we all have the ability to be the best we can be. I want to be the best I can be so others can see it in themselves. we are all equal, but often separated by our own insecurities. this false reality keeps people in negative and ungrateful places, but we often forget that situations can be turned 180 degrees just by changing our thought patterns. negative thinking is as simple as a habit, it must be broken in order to come to a new state of being. as an individual, I have realized my potential is infinite. and when we realize this as a collective, our impact will be absolutely profound.

you have a great blog called cateatscake. we can see you singing, playing piano and guitar, surfing, painting and writing poems. is there anything you are not good at?

the thing is, I have been granted these gifts, they are not my own. most of my music and poetry is straight through me. it is a message I am supposed to give the world, not a message that is MY own. I am here simply for the reason of embracing and celebrating life. I shape my life to be the one I want to live. if we all followed our passions, we would live in a completely different world. I could tell you this, no matter what job I did, I could find a positive in it, and that's just how it would be, because I know I have the choice to look at things in the light. we all forget that life IS a choice, always. we are dealt situations that are insane at times, but it is completely our choice to how we will let that situation effect us. I have had blessings fall in to my lap my whole life, but I know it is not just because I got lucky, it is because I have embraced my path as an entity on its own. a beautiful flow of life that I must surrender to and let be. I cannot force anything, it all falls together when we decide to let it go.

your heart beats for surfing as well as for music. which part in you is more touched by music and which one more by surfing?

surfing is such a beautiful way to set yourself free. it is just a matter of complete connection to the ocean, it's purely a form of meditation for me. before my injury, I was getting selfish in the water, I was getting egotistical and greedy. I think that was part of the reason I got injured, I needed to look at that situation as a whole and ask, is what I am doing the right thing? music is a whole different realm of existence really. music to me is the catalyst from which you can truly express yourself. it is such a beautiful thing when an artist truly reaches my heart, that feeling of being immersed in a song. and it is only when they are letting their spirit drift out in the open, that's when it reaches yours.

on your blog we also saw you went to coachella. how was it? and which bands impressed you the most?
coachella was amazing. it was so fun but really hot! I was absolutely entranced by Mumford and Sons. their whole combined energy is absolutely riveting. they are the rock stars of this generation for sure. I also really enjoyed the Black Keys, and I was captivated by the Lucent Dossier Experience, which is kind of like a musical, dance, circus, play all wrapped up into one.

do you have any rituals you do before going to water or before big contests?

no, and that's why I wasn't doing well. if I was to do a contest now, I would meditate on catching the right waves and being able to do the turns I know I can do. it is all about confidence. I often went into heats with no confidence, and found myself systematically falling a part. the most important thing in success is having a vision, and going at it with everything you have built up to make your vision a reality. on another note, surfing is so special because you are connecting with the ocean. I think water is so much more alive than we give credit. if you put the right energy in, it will come out to your advantage, always. one thing I used to do was give love and gratitude towards the ocean and a set would always come. it was when I surfed in vain that things didn't work out. your intention must always be the right one for things to work the way they are supposed to. our limitations come solely from our own manifestations.

please tell us about your biggest moment in surfing.

my biggest moment in surfing has definitely been my current process of getting back in the water. it has taken on a whole new meaning. it is no longer about how many hits I did on that wave, or if my spray was bigger than that other girls. it is about me getting to be in the ocean. I feel so incredibly blessed to be able to have this connection, and to live in a place where I get to do something I love so much.

is there any sea creature you are fascinated by?

dolphins! I am so incredibly intrigued by them. I can't wait for a moment when I can truly connect with a dolphin, I think that moment will be big. we, as humans, forget that everything around us has a life and a soul. everything has a recognizable consciousness, but it is not until we recognize, that things truly come to life!

do you know a legend about the region you are coming from. anything mystical you would like to tell?

there is a place called Hollister Ranch, and the Native Chumash said when a soul passes on, they are released through the western gate as a dolphin. the western gate is point conception, right above the Ranch. If you have ever been here, you know it is an incredibly spiritual, serene place. a true vortex of cosmic energy. I have been places that impact me in this way, that there seems to be a certain presence of the land, almost a personality. Ibiza had a very strong energy, as did Tahiti.

do you have any special tips for girls who are just beginning with surfing?

I would say, do it for the enjoyment, the moment it starts getting frustrating, just remember, you're surfing! there are a lot worse things to get frustrated about. you will always have fun if you always allow yourself a break and patience.

the last couple of days i spent at kay flavell's house near masterton, new zealand. originally it was built in 1911 for a yorkshire clockmaker. i fell in love with it the first time i set foot into it. it's a residency for artists and writers. it's a place that inspires. everyday you discover something new that tells its own little story. you can work on your art and let your imagination run free or take a walk near the river, enjoying the peaceful nature.

kay flavell grew up on a farm on the slopes of signal hill. her passion for diderot and goethe led her on a long journey through the world's great libraries. after teaching for 37 years at different universities in europe and california she founded new pacific studios.

in the course of secret smile we got to know people who are publishing zines with at least the same enthusiasm like we do. one of these inimitable zines is sova magazine. the first issue deals with sleep and brings artworks of many talented girls like helen korpak, annette pehrsson and jill willcott together. when we opened the packet we discovered additionally these typographic marvels which prettify our homes now.

during my new zealand journey on the southern island i met andre maubeck and jose flavio from brasil. after spraying walls and surfboards this summer in australia they decided to bring some color into new zealand's winter landscape. it has been two years now that they are on tour, spending whole days painting and following their dreams. their way of living and creativity inspires us and puts a big smile on our faces!

hmmm … well obviously something that could hurt or put anyone in an awkward situation. photos can sometimes be used against other people in political or even personal situations and I would never want to use my camera against someone. but as for a specific subject, I would never photograph torture unless it was to shed light on a terrible situation. otherwise I want to remain as objective as possible, an observer.

such a sensitive talent cannot be kept secret. crista´s narrative style already attracted attention of different brands and magazines. crista shot campaigns for les ettes and is element eden advocate. here you can follow her everday´s story.

ISTANBUL MY FRIEND

kitzi is still having a good time in new zealand and i am right back from my long awaited trip to istanbul. in these few days i bumbled through millions of people and hundreds of homeless cats. i learnt not to inhale the smoke of shisha while watching a derwish twisting as it is fatal for my head and my stomach and i had the feeling that in istanbul everybody is your friend.

girls who visited the princess islands came back as such – crowned with floral wearlths and yearning in their hearts.

though we were advised not to touch the cats we cuddled cats in need of love. they are the true rulers of the city.

by the way crossing the bridge by fatih akin and istanbul – memories of a city by orhan pamuk boosted my anticipation months before.
