THE INVISIBLE FRAME

cynthia beatt and young tilda swinton decided to go on a trip. and because they like to cycle they took the route along the berlin wall on their bikes and turned their adventure into a movie. 21 years passed by and they did it again. we like the idea and because we couldn't make it to the premiere of the original movie (private reasons) we wanted to grab the chance at this year´s viennale. tilda was presenting „the invisible frame“ – unfortunately – sold out. but luck was on our side. we caught a glimpse on tilda at mimamusch. she knows where to get weird inspiration from. mimamusch is theater, performance, music and party in one. the artists make a virtue out of necessity and adapt their working conditions to the capitalistic model.

INOPERABLE GALLERY PRESENTS MIZZO VS. M8

inoperable loves you ... and we love them. just because they show for the very first time works of only female street artists and because it´s one of the few places that deals with contemporary urban culture in vienna.
the swiss girls mizzo and m8 use both different stylistic devices. mizzo works with lively lines and defines her art as a modification of her feelings while m8 loves to use popping colours and is always in search of the perfect and reduced form.
three big things they have in common are freakishness, passion and heart.
we´ve been there and we witness this – you can feel it. it´s such a lovely and colourful exhibition. don´t miss it! the exhibition runs until 12.11.

we´ve got enough of vampires, gravediggers and this whole grufti chic. on halloween we prefer to dress up as a zebra. altough it doesn´t stand on the top of the food chain it confuses every villain with its funky pattern.
who doesn´t sympathize with our beloved zebra or can not take responsibility for going as an animal can get inspired by this year´s costume ideas on americanapparel.net those deciding in the last instance take one of the allready existing costumes at the store.

ROXY CHICKEN JAM 2010

this season´s roxy chicken jam will take place in saalbach hinterglemm! from the 8th till the 10th of january the biggest snowboard festival for girls will bring spectators and worldbest riders together to enjoy the lifestyle and creativity of snowboarding. my very own homespot is not far away, so i´ll be there. lucky girl :)
the party line-up cannot keep up with last years finals in mammoth mountain (cold war kids and santogold OMG!) by far, but we are frugal. you cannot see bunny lake and the wax wreckas often enough.
the riders are undisclosed yet, but we hope to descry ttr winners cheryl maas, jamie anderson and stars like kjersti buaas oestgaard somewhere at the slopestyle.

BEAUTIFUL LOSERS

finally! we can watch our last year´s viennale favourite whenever and whereever we want! beautiful losers is on dvd out now. this inspirering movie is telling the personal stories of a group of artists who originated a kind of art in the early 90s, which hasn’t existed in that way before. it was the onset of what we know as street art today. a formation of a group out of the DIY subcultures of skateboarding, surf, punk, hiphop and graffiti created art which reflected their lifestyle. watch artists like ed templeton, aaron rose and margaret killgallen make things out of nothing. beautiful but definitely no losers.

FLAVOURAMA / INTERNATIONAL STREET DANCE BATTLE

it´s time to put on your dancing shoes and get warm for the very first flavourama battle. the sweet potpourri girls present international dancers like david colas and lil rock at the streetdance center in salzburg.
who´s bold enough should not miss these rare stand up battles in austria. you can compete in 2 vs 2 hiphop and 1 vs 1 housedance. crews like natural style, chameleons, fushwong and fanatix will hit the road.
beyond that you have the opportunity to attend workshops with david colas (fr), lil rock (ger), naim (fr) and tatiana (sui) in hiphop, house and ragga/dancehall.

STANCE

stance is one of the most progressive girl-snowboard movies we had ever seen. a handful of girls like lisa filzmoser, tora bright and kimmy fasani deliver an incredible performance and push the sport. during the shooting the girls get to know their metes and bounds. they went to bed dead tired every day, but satisfied. the movie conveys the idea to reach after bigger things. discover the world, see as much as possible, be creative, take the challenge, travel around and get to know other people and new places. you can take a lot of energy and motivation out of it. a fantastic movie with impressive images and an incredible cinematography, interesting and talented girls always giving 110%. they get the ball rolling. it’s up to the rest to follow.

CALL FOR ENTRIES

we meet vienna´s street soul and we want you to be part of it! with increasing frequency fixies, singlespeeds and lovingly customized bicycles appear on vienna´s streets and make our hearts jump.
reason enough to unpack our boyfriend´s tools to be soon proud owners of such a
bike too. on "bicycle diary" you can follow up every single step of getting along with pimping up our old bikes.
in the meantime we would like to invite you sending us photos of you and your
wheeled artwork. latest in spring we will cruise around with our camera and will
take pictures of you and find out your favourite clubs, parks, cafes etc.
somehow or other – we will catch you ;)
